ANDREW S. NICKERSON Q. C.

Mr. Nickerson entered the general practice of law as an associate in 1977 with Irving Pink Q.C., one of Eastern Canada’s most respected barristers. He has enjoyed an extensive and varied practice.

Mr. Nickerson is recognized for his work in corporate law, business acquisitions, business financing, commercial law, fisheries law and taxation. He is often called on to handle real estate transactions. He regularly handles a wide variety of civil litigation cases many of which are related to commercial matters, construction or shareholder disputes. From 2006 to 2013 Mr. Nickerson served as a member of the Canada Pension Plan Review Tribunal. Since 2014 Mr. Nickerson has been a Small Claims Court Adjudicator sitting in Yarmouth, Shelburne Digby and Annapolis Royal.

Mr. Nickerson represents some of Western Nova Scotia’s leading companies and regularly performs agency work for leading Halifax law firms. He has substantial international experienced and has managed legal matters for clients doing business in Africa and Southeast Asia and supervised litigation in the United States and the United Kingdom. Mr. Nickerson regularly appears before the Nova Scotia Supreme Court and the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal and has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada.

Ray Jacquard

Raymond was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, however, has lived in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia for practically all of his life. Raymond earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and his Bachelor of Law degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1990. Raymond articled for Pink Macdonald Harding in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in June of 1991.

Raymond conducts a general practice in the Yarmouth and surrounding area, focusing on Criminal Law, Family Law, Real Estate, Fisheries, Corporate, Wills and Estates and Personal Injury claims. Raymond is currently the solicitor for the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth and represents the Department of Health in Adult Protection matters in Yarmouth and Digby counties.

Raymond has served in the past as a member of the Canada Pension Plan Review Tribunal, a representative of the Yarmouth area on the Nova Scotia Branch of the Canadian Bar Association, a member of the Board of Directors of the Y.M.C.A., a member of the Board of Directors for the Yarmouth Boys & Girls Club, a Director of the Yarmouth Golf & Country Club and has assisted in coaching and organizing various sporting teams in the Yarmouth area.

Raymond has two children, Raymond, Jr. (born January 2, 1996), and Breanna (born September 25, 1998), and in his spare time enjoys going to his cottage and playing baseball and basketball.

Colin J. M. Fraser

We are pleased that on October 19, 2015 Colin was elected to the Parliament of Canada as the Member for South West Nova. Colin is on leave of absence from the firm at this time and will not be accepting new clients while serving in the House of Commons.

Colin was born and raised in Yarmouth, NS and earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. He studied law in London, England and at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS, earning his LL.B. in 2007. He returned to Yarmouth and was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2008.

PATRICIA E. CALDWELL Q.C.

Upon her admission to the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society in 1972, Ms. Caldwell joined the firm of Irving C. Pink Q.C. in Yarmouth. In 1978 she became a founding partner of Pink MacDonald Caldwell and Warner, and continued with that firm under its various succeeding names until it’s dissolution in December of 2001. From January 1, 2002 until June 30, 2012, Ms. Caldwell carried on her own property and probate practice as a sole practitioner. On July 1, 2012 she joined the firm now known as Nickerson Jacquard Russell as Counsel.

During her legal career extending over forty years, Ms. Caldwell has remained active within the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society serving several terms on Bar Society Council and participating on a number of key committees; currently she serves on the Discipline Committee. Ms. Caldwell has also been active in the wider community; she has served on the Boards of the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation, and Acadia University, and is a Past President of The Kritosophian Society. Ms. Caldwell currently serves on the Board of Sunset Terrace.

SINEAD RUSSELL

Sinead was born and raised in Ireland and she moved to Nova Scotia in 2011. Sinead earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree and her Bachelor of Laws Degree at the University of Galway, Ireland, in 1992 and 1995 respectively. Sinead spent almost 20 years working as an entrepreneur in the hospitality industry in the west of Ireland. Her company owned several award winning restaurants.

Sinead completed her studies with the Federation of law Societies in Canada in December 2013 which awarded her with the National Certificate of Accreditation in order to qualify for admittance to the bar in January 2015.

Sinead conducts a general practice in Yarmouth and surrounding Tri-County area with a focus on litigation. Sinead has an avid interest in personal injury law and civil litigation but has an extensive and varied case load in the areas of Family law, Wills & Estates and Real Estate also. Sinead is gaining significant experience in trial advocacy in Small Claims Court, Family Court and Supreme Court. She is currently being mentored by her senior partner in the area of corporate and commercial law.

Sinead is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers Society, APTLA, and Western County Bar Association.

In her spare time she enjoys time with family and friends and is passionate about cooking, travel, and loves to read.

Regan Murphy

Regan was born and raised in Yarmouth. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Commerce from Mount Allison University in 2013, and his Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2017. Regan articled at Nickerson Jacquard Russell and was called to the bar in January 2018, joining the firm as an Associate.

Regan serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Meadows Home for Special Care in Yarmouth, and is a member of the Real Estate Lawyers Association of Nova Scotia (RELANS), the Atlantic Provinces Trial Lawyers Association (APTLA), the Association des Metis-Acadiens Souriquois (AAMS) and the Association des juristes d'expression française de la Nouvelle-Écosse (AJEFNE).

While in law school, Regan served as the Aboriginal Student Representative on the Board of Directors for the Law Students Society. For all three years, he served on the executive for the Aboriginal Law Students Association. He also served as Co-Chair of the Sports Committee. In 2016, Regan spent four months working as a Senior Law Student at Dalhousie Legal Aid Service in Halifax.

In his spare time, Regan enjoys playing hockey and spending time with his family and their Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.
